How to Play FTG Sports Football
Draft, sign free agents, work the cap, and sim seasons. The whole FTG Sports Football playbook in ten minutes.
Run a football franchise. Draft rookies, work the cap, hold a locker room together, and try to lift a title. No twitch reflexes. No on-field controls. Your roster, coaches, and decisions drive every snap.
1Sign in
No download, no wallet. Open football.ftgsports.net in any modern browser and sign in with email or as a guest. Guest mode drops you into a full league. Add an email later to carry the save across devices.
2Start or join a league
Pick 'Create League' to spin up a fresh 32-team league (you own one franchise, 31 AI GMs run the rest) or paste a friend's join link to take an open slot in an existing league. Each league has its own draft, cap, standings, and record book.
3The rookie draft
Seven rounds. Your scouting board shows each prospect's grade, position, and a scouted potential range that widens or narrows based on your talent-evaluation rating. Every prospect has a hidden ceiling. You find it out over his career. Whiff on draft day and you own the miss.
4The regular season
Eighteen games, one bye. The sim runs weekly by default; a commissioner can switch to daily auto-advance or step manually. Between games you set your depth chart, tune development focus by position, and watch injuries hit. Expect one or two names on the report most weeks, with the occasional season-ender.
5Trades
Open the trade builder, pick pieces from both sides (players, picks, cash), and the trade value index checks whether the offer is fair or a fleece. AI GMs weigh position need, cap room, and personality. Rebuilders will move veterans for the right return. Try to fleece them and they walk. Trade deadline is Week 10.
6Free agency
The FA market opens in the offseason across five bid rounds. You put money on players, AI GMs bid against you, and the player picks. Personality shapes the price. Loyal players may take less to stay home. Mercenaries chase the biggest check.
7The playoffs
Top seven seeds per conference. The 1 seed byes to the divisional round. Seeds 2 through 7 play a wild-card weekend, then divisional, then conference, then the title game. Seeding matters. Rest and home field give you an edge, and your coaching staff's game-day rating swings close games.
8The offseason
Five gated phases: retirements and contract expirations, franchise-tag window, five FA bid rounds, the draft, then a wrap-up that ages rosters and rolls the cap year. The league stops at each phase for about 24 hours on scheduled pace, or waits on the commissioner on manual pace.
The job is to win the league. Nail the draft. Hit on a free-agent bargain. Build chemistry through a run. Steal a home game in the divisional round. Your dynasty ends when you end it.
